Sunday, June 2, 2013 – During the late afternoon some thunderstorms rolled through the Mid-Atlantic Region creating an influx of calls for multiple station 6 units. Truck 6 was dispatched to Anne Arrundel County for a possible church on fire, units on on scene prior to the trucks arrival located some smoldering embers as after a lighting strike to the church earlier, The truck returned to quarters. E-61 was requested to Anne Arrundel station 27 for the station fill transfer, while en-route E-61 was picked up for the working structure fire on Fort Meade. Units on scene were advising fire showing second floor and attic in a row of town homes. E-61 arrived 3rd arriving engine and got ready to supply water to the first Engine. Fire progressed through the roof and into multiple units. Command requested a 2nd alarm be transmitted. Interior crews were pulled out and set to go defensive with master streams. Very low Water pressure hampered crews progress inside. Tankers for shuttling water were called for to supplement. Chief 6B arrived to assist on scene operations, once the bulk of the fire was knocked E-61 crew along with others were sent back inside to mop up hot spots. Crews operated for about 5 hours before returning to service.
