Chief 6 & E62 were dispatched for the report of a house fire in Prince Georges County, Laurel 10’s first due. While en route, PG Chief 10 upgraded it to a working fire. E62 arrived as the 4th due engine company and immediately pulled PG Engine 10’s 300ft attack line and entered the house from side bravo. Chief 6 established division 1 command. E62’s company masked up and 2 members proceeded to the 2nd floor where there were heavy smoke conditions. They encountered slight heat once on the second floor. The officer of 62 then entered a small door which led into a storage space with high heat conditions and low visibility in the room. He was able to locate the bulk of the fire and began to open up with a hook while calling for a hose line. The officer of E62 was then able to grab the pipeman from E10 and direct him. E62 then assisted with extinguishment of the fire, the overhaul, and mopping up of hot spots. The engine company and chief operated for approximately 2 hours.
