Just celebrating my 50th year in the fire service, which began in 1974 when Station 9 opened in Columbia. It's good to see a few familiar names still with the department. I have been a paid on call firefighter with the City of Lapeer fire department for 35 years, and I'm still active, other than I don't go inside anymore. I have great memories of my relatively short 5 years with the Savage VFD, and send my best regards out to any who might remember me. Stay safe.

For almost 25 years the men and women of this department have served the residents of La Casa De Rosa Assisted Living home with the utmost respect and care. I called 911 today, August 31st, for my mom, Elsie Matthews. Sean and his team from the Savage Fire Department responded. I want to thank them for doing an outstanding job with my mom and the family. They attended to her needs at home and even at the hospital. You guys are the BEST!!!!
